IBM Lotus Notes / Domino 8.5.1 is a very significant release. There are many new capabilities and improvements, some of which are detailed below;
- Lots of new features in the Lotus Notes client, including auto correct, vCards, preferences for unread mail, and many more - see announcement letter
- Can access email via a wide range of browsers and mobile devices, such as Apple iPhone
- Simplification of the licensing model, down to two Client Access Licenses (Messaging and Enterprise)
- Domino Designer is now freely accessible in IBM Developerworks at no charge
- Many improvements to Domino Designer, including new LotusScript and Java editors
